Digital Recorders

Podcasters loooove the Zoom! The Zoom H4 is reliable, portable, gives great sound. Relatively easy to use. Two XLR ports (can be converted to non XLR 1/4 inch jack.) An excellent choice for anyone who wants a great sounding podcast.   My personal love affair with the Roland R-05 is well documented. Lightweight, easy to use, AWESOME sound from either internal or external mic. I own two. Downside: now hard to find. If you see one on eBay or Amazon GRAB IT. You won’t be sorry.

Microphones

Almost every podcaster who has a how-to guide for podcasting recommends the Audio Technica 2100. Inexpensive, solid sound, GREAT to start out podcasting. Keep for your mobile set up.   You can’t go wrong with Rode. The Rode Podcaster is USB for convenience. Warm sound, clear. A great upgrade for when you are ready to go next level with your recording.

Accessories

Gotta stand the mic up somehow.   Yes, you need a pop filter. Different from a windscreen (which you also need.)
